We all have the same 24 hours in a day.
The question is: how are you spending yours?
It’s very easy to think, “I’ll just do it myself, it’ll only take five minutes.”
Five minutes to reply to an email.
Ten minutes to rearrange an appointment.
Twenty minutes to find a restaurant for dinner.
Half an hour to chase an invoice.
An hour disappearing into a spreadsheet, booking travel or trying to sort out something that really isn’t your area of expertise.
And somehow, the day is gone.
Your time has a value
If you’re running a business, managing a team, building a career or simply juggling a very full life, your time is probably your most valuable resource.
That doesn’t mean every minute needs to be productive. Quite the opposite.
It means you should be able to choose where your time goes.
If your expertise, creativity or business generates £100 an hour, is spending two hours organising travel really the best use of those £200 worth of time?
And even if you don’t put a monetary value on your time, there is another question worth asking:
What could you have done with those two hours instead?
Had lunch without checking your phone?
Finished work on time?
Spent time with your family?
Gone for a walk?
Worked on the project you’ve been putting off?
Delegation isn’t about being too important
Sometimes people feel they should be able to do everything themselves.
But asking for help isn’t about being too busy, too important or unable to cope.
It’s about recognising that not everything needs to be done by you.
A good PA can take care of the things that sit in the background, the organising, researching, booking, chasing, planning and little details that quietly take up an enormous amount of headspace.
And when those things are taken care of, you don’t just get the time back.
You get some of your headspace back too.
So, what is your time worth?
Perhaps it’s worth asking yourself:
What am I doing today that someone else could do for me?
It might only be an hour.
But that hour could be the most valuable hour you get back all week.
If you’re looking for a little more time, headspace and support, reach out and let’s have a conversation about how I can help take some of the busy off your hands.
